JOB DESCRIPTION


Local family owned Sitework and Underground Utility Company is seeking to hire a Supervisor for Industrial, Commercial, and Residential Projects. Must have experience with Sitework & Underground Utility Projects.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


The Supervisor is responsible for direct in-field supervision of a field crew working on all phases of Sitework & Underground utilities. Must have knowledge of Clearing & Grubbing, Demolition, Excavating, Grading, Paving, Sanitary Sewer, Potable Water, and Storm Drainage. Capable of operating one or more of the following pieces of equipment:  Excavator, Grader, Dozer, Backhoe, Front End Loader, and Skid steer.

 

Oversee and lead crew from start to finish each day installing Sitework & Underground Utilities. Provide training, guidance, and support for all field staff. Communicate with clients, when necessary. Attend meetings on a periodic basis. Ensure all job site goals including safety and productivity are met.
 

QUALIFICATIONS


• Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground utility installation
• Knowledge of CFR 1926 OSHA construction regulations and field safety
• Ability to read and interpret Blueprints
• Ability to calculate elevations and percentages
• Well-organized with Strong work ethic
• Work safely and efficiently
• Eager to learn new skills and tasks
• Knowledge of Pipe Layer, Pipe Transit, Line Level
• Knowledge of construction technology, codes, standards, etc.
• Leadership attributes include critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze data and trends, professional conduct at all times
• High-stress tolerance; must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment
• A highly motivated self-starting, autonomous individual who can work independently and set priorities while balancing guidance from the management team
• Must function well as part of the overall team
• Good Judgment: Critical thinking and problem-solving with the ability to make solid decisions.

 

JOB TYPE:  Full-time


SALARY: $1,250.00 - $1,700.00 per week.

Excavator Job

Utility Excavator Operator


JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Local family owned Sitework and Underground Utility Company is seeking to hire an Excavator Operator for installation of Underground Utilities on Industrial, Commercial, and Residential Projects. Must have experience installing Sanitary Sewer, Potable Water, Fire Main, Electrical Conduit, and Storm Drainage Pipe.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The excavator operator will operate the machine to assist with all aspects of underground utility installation. Conduct trench work so that it meets OH&S requirements. Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade. Work with ground personnel in the excavation and follow directions of ground crew regarding lifting, gravel placement and grading. Will follow directions instructions and specifications as determined by supervisor and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.

QUALIFICATIONS


• Minimum 3 years’ experience Operating Excavator digging in or around existing utilities
• Operate machine(s) daily in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform daily pre/post operating checks on equipment and report any malfunctions to the Foreman.
• Driver’s License (Preferred)
Ability to work independently and work well with others.

Pipe Layer Job

GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

 

Responsible for laying and joining concrete, pvc, or ductile iron pipe for storm drainage, sewers, and water mains. The pipe layer is responsible for installing underground pipes, which vary in size and type for Commercial and Residential utilities projects. This includes rigging pipe for hoisting,
setting pipe to grade and affixing the pipe joint. Prepare and grade the trenches either manually or by communicating with onsite equipment operators. The Pipe Layer position requires manual labor as well as assisting other crew members as necessary with hands-on work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Work cooperatively with the crew to accomplish tasks
• Lay and join pipe for storm drainage, sewer and water lines – rigging pipe, setting pipe and affixing pipe to joints
• Maintain tools and equipment so that they are kept in good working order and are safe for use
• Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills
• Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures and regulations
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment to include equipment operated
• Perform a variety of general labor tasks as required for the job
• Other duties as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions
• Strong communication skills to coordinate work flow with production operator
• Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Knowledge of and ability to determine appropriate grades
• Ability to figure grade & read plans

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have at least 1 year experience as a pipe layer
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) strongly preferred
• Valid appropriate state driver’s license preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT


• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
• Noise level is generally loud
• Excellent stamina is required
